Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't use "there is" with plural nouns: There is three books → There are three books
  • Don't forget "a/an" with singular countable nouns: There is book → There is a book
  • Don't use "there are" with uncountable nouns: There are some milk → There is some milk
  • In questions, remember to invert "there" and "is/are": Is there a park? (correct) vs. There is a park? (incorrect)
